The book I am evaluating is Beginning VB.Net 2nd Edition I wrote the above evalution as well I must change the rating to a four at this point I am at page 157 for the second time Between reads I have read some other beginning books My original statements about this book needing a glossary are incorrect Read the book carefully or a second time and you will find the explanations are there and very good I am assuming the new book Beginning VB.Net 2003 follows in the same quality When I am finished [...]

The title is for me misleading Beginning is not really in my opinion, realistic The coverage of the IDE the editor where you create windows and write code is not well covered I found myself often shaking my head and thinking what does that mean I wrote to the E Mail support and did not receive an answer Perhaps my question was too dumb , but then every question a beginner has should be valid I followed through the steps in one chapter to connect to Microsoft Access The result was an unfriendly e [...]

Beginning VB is directed toward individuals who have never done any kind of programming, but are interested in getting started The assignments, together with the text create an excellent learning tool This book is well written and easy to use The assignments work well with Visual Studio 2010, even though the book was written for earlier versions The changes that have been made to Visual Studio itself are minor, and do not interfere with the usefulness of Beginning VB i.e the color of the play bu [...]

I recently purchased this book used here on As I read it, I find that the material is very easy to pick up and I even find that I m jumping ahead of the lessons and making my own code to do different things This book is not the usual boring droning on type tech manual that I thought it would be 5 stars.

I purchased this book about a decade ago when I was in college and still have it lying around It has good basic principles of VB 2003 If you are starting out with VB for the first time I would suggest the newer copy for 4 or 4.5 I ve been a professional developer now for 8 years.
